Ukrainian journalistic organizations call on the International Federation of Journalists to expel and condemn the Russian Union of Journalists, which creates its branches in the temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories – in the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions.
– While we, together with you, save hundreds of journalists who became victims of the war and were evacuated due to the persecution of Russians from the occupied territories or near-front zones, the Russian Union of Journalists performs the role of an instrument of war and occupation, – noted the President of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine Sergiy Tomilenko, in an address to the leadership of the International Federation of Journalists.
The National Union of Journalists of Ukraine and the Independent Media Trade Union of Ukraine urge to start the process of expelling the Russian Union of Journalists from the IFJ membership. An appropriate protest was sent to the IFJ Executive Committee on October 25, as soon as it became known about the decision of the RUJ to create its branches in 4 temporarily occupied Ukrainian regions.
