The President of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine, Sergiy Tomilenko, once again reminded media men and women working in the war zone about the importance of checking information.
Sergiy Tomilenko said this on the air of Suspilne TV channel.
“It is important to give your audience verified information. It is better to put sensationalism and efficiency on hold so that we do not harm the military, Ukraine, or Ukrainians. So that our audience, readers, viewers, while receiving information, do not expose themselves to some kind of danger,” said the President of the NUJU.
Tomilenko also emphasized that nowadays the price of words is higher than ever.
In addition, he emphasized that no reportage, no work is worth life. Therefore, when a journalist goes to a war zone, they must, first of all, take care of their safety and must use protective equipment: a bulletproof vest and a helmet.
- “Thanks to international partners, protective equipment is currently available. And we, as the NUJU, are happy to provide and do provide it to journalists,” added Tomilenko.
