“When I came to Ivano-Frankivsk as a displaced person, everything was strange here, I didn’t know anyone. I was in complete apathy and depression,” recalls journalist Maryna Trubnikova, who had to leave her hometown of Izium due to the large-scale Russian aggression. The Ivano-Frankivsk Journalist Solidarity Center of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine (NUJU) helped her adapt socially to her new place.
“Thanks to head of the center Viktoriya Plakhta, who personally involved me in all kinds of events and activities, I got to know wonderful people, I felt like a part of the Ivano-Frankivsk society. It was within the walls of the Center that I received real moral support, attention and care for me and my family. Therefore, I believe that such a center is a real oasis of therapy for people who were forced to leave their homes. And without it, the city would not be so cozy and warm…,” Maryna Trubnikova mentions in a comment to the Ivano-Frankivsk regional organization of the NUJU.
As earlier reported, the Journalist Solidarity Centers are an initiative of the NUJU, which is implemented with the support of the International and European Federations of Journalists, as well as UNESCO. It is designed to help media representatives working in Ukraine during the war. The centers operate in Kyiv, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, and provide journalists with organizational, technical, legal, psychological and other types of assistance.
